Friday November 15th 2019.

Tynewydd was already trimmed up for Xmas. I suggested (foolishly) to Margaret that it might be a bit early. I was expecting the fists but the head butt caught me unawares.

Alun’s lungs were a sea of green phlegm, so he was at home watching what the BBC passes off as entertainment on Children in Need night. It goes without saying that we were once again Pritchardless.

I’ve got a pick and shovel needing my attention outside so the blog will be brief today, with  photos dotted around to give some substance.

Basically, there were a few blokes sang some songs. Old songs, new songs, whatever. Some of these blokes had guitars, some didn’t. One had a concertina, one had a gob iron. Some remembered the words, some didn’t. Others (including ladies) read stuff.

You may have noticed that all the politicians are promising us everything, but mainly promising that they will leave us with such an astronomic amount of debt, that even at basic rate tax of 50%, our children and grandchildren will never pay it off. However they have all missed one trick; no one has promised us FREE BEER. Not a problem at Tynewydd, where once again, thanks to AWR’s generosity, free beer was available to all performers.

My VW overheated on the way back last night, so that’s something else I have to look at. It may be time to get shut of it – I was looking at the new Vauxhall Brexit as a possible replacement.

What do you think?

Next week we have Allan Taylor at the club. Doors open at 7.45 after Jeff has finished tweeking the sound. Only £5 on the door is the best deal you will get this year for an artist of this calibre. If you aren’t a regular at Rhyl Folk Club (beware of cheap imitations), remember there is no bar so it’s a cheap night as you can bring your own drinks (and a glass, unless you’re a moron like Blythin and drink from the bottle). We don’t charge corkage, all we ask is that you don’t pop your champagne or crack open your tinnies during a song.

Mike is AWR’s choice for a track this week. I’m off to get some work done.
