Friday March 22nd 2024.

We made it! 60 years of folk and fun. A nice crowd of regulars to celebrate, with a gorgeous cake made by Bee for us to fill our gobs when we weren’t singing along.

Andrew got off pretty much on time, with a full list. We’d had several apologies for absence, notably from Brian and Sue, Izzie, Delya and Alice ‘n Dave. Dave had sent a bloke in their place, a nice chap called Jack Daniels. He didn’t join in with the choruses, but I was happy to give him a lift home at the end.

I’m not going to plough through all the singers and songs, but I’ll get everybody’s photo on (except Lesley, who couldn’t do a selfie with my SLR.

Good to see Rick back, looking very dapper with a stunning waistcoat. Needs to buy his boy a razor for Christmas – what a fine face full of hair, and none of it grey.

A spectacular raffle, with everything you could want, including several wines, 2 loaves and a bog brush ( complete with a Donald Trump bog roll, the lucky winner could wipe their primary orifice on Don’s face). Plus the JD of course (gloat).

A big thanks also to Andrew, who has the thankless task most weeks of keeping things running, and to Ruth for sitting on the door, extracting the cash. Let’s not forget all the souls who turn up week after week who I’m proud to call my friends and without whom there would be no club. We’re all getting older, so, lets be honest, we’re not going to make another 60 years; realistically another ten would be an achievement, so lets enjoy it while it’s here.

However we are not “here” the next 2 weeks, due to Good Friday and then 1st Friday non availability of the room. Back on April 12th for a singers’ night. The 19th is AGM (over as quickly as poss) followed by singers.
